Yesterday maris and i got back from our roadtrip of NZ! Never have seen such gorgeous scenery in my LIFE! Will post pics when I get home! We went up north to the bay of islands, stopping at many places along the way. We also went on a traditional maori boat and we got to paddle down the river - learned traditional songs (picooooo picooo picooo picooooo torroooo torrooo torrooo). it was totally random how it happened - we just drove to the treaty grounds and then there were two men dressed in traditional maori and we asked them where the treaty grounds are - we got lost at the neighboring golf course - and they told us that we could go on their boat. was really amazing.

it was great to just drive around because the scenery was seriously an over load of pretty. I have NEVER seen such a consistently good looking countryside. Seriously folks. Everywhere we would turn there would be a beautiful beach or rolling neon green hills with sheep. It was so picturesque. We would be driving and on both sides there would be bright green grassy hills that looked like they were from a telly tubby set, and there would ALWAYS be a pond of some sort with cows or sheep around it, and around the pond would be pink naked ladies (the flower…) it was too good to be true..

gps.. definitely like having another person in the car. a person that was annoying, especially when it would switch directions literally last minute or just shut off directions completely  - but when we had those moments of WHERE ARE WE (many moments), the gps was a very much welcomed friend.

went to this beach that we found. it was so quiet there. literally there was no one in sight. and the tide just came in, so we found so many amazing shells. the sky was reflecting on the sand. and the sun was setting so it was this bright orange, but there were these spooky purple storm clouds coming in - it was eerie. i felt like i wanted to spend hours there looking for shells, but i also felt like just getting in my car and driving.

round abouts suck. i don’t care what marissa says, they suck.

we went south a couple days later - highlight was hot water beach. you dig your own pool, and in the sand is hot water. it can get reallllyyy hot. like, you feet are on fire and should be blistering hot. we stayed an extra night here because we loved it so much. town center had five stores… and a community board. this is pretty standard we found out. the hostel we stayed at was amazing. loved everyone we met - was like a little cabin. met some girls from cali, a french woman, english woman, scottish woman, a german lady.. lots of woman here haha. met a canadian who worked there and from the way he spoke.. i just assumed he was from some nordic country with impeccable english. we all hung out and it was bittersweet because chances are slim we will ever see each other again. the last night, maris, me, another cali girl, and the canadian/nordic man went to the pools and stayed there till 10. last ones there! i would lay in the hot water pool and since there were no lights ANYWHERE for miles and miles you could see so many stars. we would just stare up into the milky way. amazing way to wrap up the time traveling.

so much to do!

so much I need to do - first of all, academically (waaaatt) I have to write a 4 page essay and turn in a final tomorrow. I have done 0% of this. Take that back, I wrote my name down on my paper.

not only that, I want to spend as much time as I can OUTSIDE and enjoy my time here in Adelaide.

I’ll just settle and so a shit job and then move on with my life and enjoy what time I have left.

australia

made it australia - haven’t been here for even a week yet!

toured sydney, and welcomed in the 2012 year with fireworks and 6000 people all sitting in the botanical gardens.

then later we went to a gay bar.

i feel like this year is going to be a good one.
